Women didnt play a prominent role in Canada at this time, mainly because it was a male dominated society and there werent many chances for women to make a change. The main role for women was to stay home with the children, cook and provide a hospitable home for the men. I found nothing that connected women with the Confederation of Canada, only a bit about how native women were used and perceived during the gold rush. Also, many of the history books were written by men, just noting the major contributions to the forming of our country, which focuses on the men involved.
